What is SafeGolf?
Golf is a sport that should be open to everyone. Not every golf hotel in the Cotswolds is a member of SafeGolf, but SafeGolf accreditation is one way to verify that a club has policies and procedures to ensure a safe and welcoming environment.
What is SafeGolf?
SafeGolf is a scheme dedicated to establishing safe, positive environments at all golf clubs, and particularly to protecting the welfare of children and adults, especially those who may be vulnerable. Anyone with a concern around any player, volunteer, organiser, player or coach may use the SafeGolf website to contact their governing body’s lead safeguarding officer.
Members include England Golf, Wales Gold, Scottish Golf and Golf Ireland. In fact, England Golf has required SafeGolf accreditation for all its clubs since 2021. The Professional Golfers’ Association also keeps a list of PGA professionals with SafeGolf accreditation. Other member groups include the Golf Club Managers’ Association and British and International Golf Greenkeepers’ Association.
Why is SafeGolf important?
Safeguarding is about protecting people, particularly vulnerable groups like children from people and situations that may cause them harm. Good safeguarding procedures, properly followed, minimise risk and ensure golf can remain inclusive. Any place where children or other vulnerable people may be present, including a golf hotel Cotswolds, should have clear policies and proper training in the best safeguarding practices, as well as their obligations under the law. SafeGolf is one way to achieve this.
Safeguarding is an important part of protecting the well-being of everyone who works, volunteers or plays golf. SafeGolf establishes a safeguarding standard across Great Britain and Ireland.
