Spring Bulbs to Brighten your Garden
During the winter, most plants have died off and instead of spending a lot of time outdoors we spend it in our homes. Flowers and plants are a great way to bring joy to the home though, so just because it is winter, it is lovely to have flowers around – beautiful bouquets from places like this Tewkesbury florist the Flower Shed make a great centrepiece for a Christmas dining table, or simply to bring us joy on those dark and chilly days.
As well as this we can start looking forward to the spring and the flowers that we can once again enjoy out in the garden. At this time of year, it is a good idea to plant some bulbs, so that we have the joy of seeing them emerge and herald the beginning of the sunny days of spring and summer!
Here are some bulbs that you could plant out now…
Tulips – These popular flowers are a joy to behold, and they come in such a wide variety of colours and shapes that there is bound to be at least one that takes your fancy! From the traditional looking red tulips to frilly and ornate looking types.
Hyacinth – These stunning flowers are popular for their beautiful fragrance. They bloom around March to April and also come in many colours so will bring a beautiful swathe of colour and scent to your garden come the spring.
Bluebells – English bluebells are a joy to behold and can often be found carpeting the woodland floors in May. Adding them to your garden is easy as they are not fussy on the soil type and do well in shady locations.
